Donald Berk
Don has deep experience in Banking and Technology as the former Chief Operating Officer and Board Member at Metallicus, and 25 years at The Northern Trust Company leading Corporate and the Institutional Services and the Wealth Management Banking business.
While at Metallicus, a Digital Currency and Blockchain company, Don’s responsibilities encompassed Compliance, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing and Human Resources. His primary focus was directing the growth and product strategy for the firm. This included developing the Banking Innovation program. This program introduced Blockchain technology into Financial Services firms. His efforts also included defining uses around Stable Coins and Loan Syndication. He accomplished doubling the revenue attributed to their consumer facing application which allowed individuals to buy, sell and hold a variety of digital assets including Bitcoin.
Prior to joining Metallicus, Don’s was with The Northern Trust Company where he held multiple leadership positions including Director of Product Management and Strategy for the Banking business. In that role he was responsible for the delivery of all banking services including Vendor Management, Lockbox, Disbursements, Check Processing, Residential Mortgage Lending, Debit and Credit cards, and checking and saving accounts. He also served on the Banks leadership committees including Corporate Outsourcing, Liquidity Management and Operational Risk. Additionally, he was responsible for Northern’s Federal Savings Bank and a Board member of Northern Trust’s and Fiserv’s joint venture RemitStream. Don lead large scale transformation projects including the banks core conversion, the collapse on Northen’s multiple banking charters into a single organization and the conversion from a retail bank to a wholesale bank.
Prior to joining Northern Trust Don was a Systems Engineer at IBM where he worked on the firms first PC deployment. Don graduated from Kent State University with a double major in computer science and operations research and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a MBA and concentration in Finance.
