Mike Giffin is an accomplished executive with over 40 years of solid career progression in the consumer electronics industry, including 22 years in senior leadership positions with Harman International (acquired by Samsung in 2016) where he led teams to transform underperforming brands into number one market share leaders in North America (Infinity car audio) and the EU (JBL car audio). After leaving Harman in 2009, Mike founded and led Wren Sound Systems, LLC, an award-winning startup in the Wi-Fi-based wireless loudspeaker category. Following an interim term in business development with SaaS startup Help Lightning, Inc., Mike founded and leads Mike Giffin CE Consulting, a business specializing in consumer electronics, with a focus on revitalizing stalled brands, assisting startups, and helping offshore brands enter and succeed in the North American market.

Mike has extensive global experience in consumer audio sales, marketing, and strategic business leadership. He has traveled to and worked on-site with customers and vendors in the majority of the world’s developed markets. He is a team builder with a strong track record of attracting and motivating talented, high performing contributors. He has deep experience in general management with full P&L, balance sheet, and cash management responsibility. Skilled at analyzing market data and interpreting consumer trends to identify market opportunities, Mike has a reputation as an imaginative thinker comfortable and confident traveling beyond the boundaries of convention. He shares utility and design patents for original, award-winning products. He was a recipient of Circuit City’s Merchandising Vendor Excellence Award in 2003 for outstanding support and dedication in helping that company meet the needs of its customers.

As a consultant, Mike leverages affiliations with some of the best and brightest people in the CE industry. Together with his affiliates, Mike helps companies conceive, develop, and source new products; strengthen brand identity and focus; devise successful distribution strategies; broaden understanding and deployment of marketing; conceive and execute growth initiatives; develop, refine and execute strategy; improve employee commitment and teamwork; create compelling business plans; raise startup or growth capital; identify acquisition targets; and exit via M&A or PE-sponsored LBOs and MBOs.

Mike earned a BA in English at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, did graduate work and taught writing courses at the University of Delaware, and completed executive education courses at UCLA (Accounting for the Non-Financial Professional), Berkeley (Marketing) and Harvard Business School (Business Marketing Strategy).
