“Three to five years ago, the big strategics were sprinkling money around, but you are now seeing more focus from them,” said Jonathan Hodson-Walker, managing partner of Silverwood Partners, an investment banking firm that advises CPG brands. “The strategics are still making minority investments, but they are less interested in buying small brands that are experimental and can’t be $100M businesses. Supply chains and scale are very important to them right now.”

Private Placement / Financing TransactionsEat Just: The company raised $25 million of venture funding from C2 Capital Partners and other undisclosed investors on August 17, 2022. The company is a producer of plant-based egg products intended to offer a healthy, animal-friendly, and nutritional food alternative.

Chamberlain Coffee: The company raised $7 million of Series A venture funding in a deal led by Blazar Capital on August 16, 2022. Ole Kristoffersen, Steen Skallebaek, Brandon Brown, Nik Sharma and Ken Sadowsky also participated in this round. The company is a producer and retailer of high-quality coffee that has been sustainably sourced and made, and its related products.

Byte Kitchen: The company raised $6 Million venture funding in a deal led by Crosslink Capital, Emergent Ventures and Kevin Mahaffey on August 16, 2022. SIS Ventures, Equity Gap, Old College Capital, Scottish Enterprise, and other undisclosed investors also participated in the round. The company is a producer of microalgae intended to offer a replacement to fishmeal in animal food.

Happy Viking: The company raised $2 million of venture funding in a deal led by Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Talent Resources Ventures, Robin Arzón, Michelle Wie West Megan Rapinoe, Reilly Opelka, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Collin Sexton on August 16, 2022.
